Hi, I’m Bertrand.

I’ve been passionate about art for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until my late 30s that I really began to dive deeply into painting. I started with watercolors, exploring color, light, and form, and over time I moved into oil painting, where I found a way to fully express both structure and freedom in my work.

I draw inspiration from the old masters, contemporary figurative painters like ZhaoMing Wu, Alex Venezia, Causey Baugh, and Daniel Sprik, and abstract artists who challenge how we see and feel. Over the years, I’ve developed a style that blends classical and modern approaches—a reflection of life itself, full of contrasts: old and new, beauty and imperfection, order and chaos, light and shadow.

For me, painting is about exploring emotion, mystery, and the human experience. Each portrait is unique, and each one tells a story. My goal in this course is to share the process I’ve learned: to guide you with structure while giving you the freedom to discover your own style, to help you experiment, make mistakes, and grow as an artist. I’m here to walk beside you in that journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and a space to explore your creativity without pressure.
